A round-table meeting of the G20 Chief Scientific Advisors was held on Wednesday at the Taj Resort in Ramnagar, Uttarakhand. Discussions were held on green development, climate finance and resilient development. Scientists brainstormed on the changing weather in the world and many important points. The meeting was attended by 13 major organizations from 17 countries and 51 representatives, including Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. This was the first meeting of the G20 in Uttarakhand.
The meeting discussed ways to make science related information accessible and free, strengthen the global science advisory system, and brainstorm on saving the world from epidemics. Four agendas were discussed, such as One Health’s opportunities for better disease control and pandemic preparedness. The first agenda discussed the opportunity in ‘One Health’ for better preparedness to deal with disease control and epidemics.
The second agenda discussed how to make science-related information accessible to everyone in an accessible and free manner. The third agenda included developing a global policy on diversity, equity, inclusion in the field of science and technology and coordinating global efforts. The fourth agenda discussed strengthening the global science advisory system. The G20 Summit was welcomed with a Choliya dance and folk dance, and security arrangements were made to ensure safety.
