Flipkart Samarth empowers over 1.8 million artisans as nation celebrates World Artisan Day

On World Artisan Day, Flipkart reaffirmed its commitment to India’s rich cultural heritage and economic inclusivity through its flagship initiative, Flipkart Samarth. Launched six years ago, the program has empowered over 1.8 million livelihoods and preserved more than 100 traditional art forms by providing skilling, digital training, and national market access to artisans, weavers, and entrepreneurs across India.

With more than 2,000 active sellers now on board, Flipkart Samarth continues to bridge tradition and technology. Artisans like Warraque Ahmed of Varanasi’s Dujjana Silk Emporium, Ashim Kumar Das of Kolkata’s Potli by Scarpa Italia, and Om Ahuja of Gujarat’s Gir Honey, exemplify how Flipkart has helped transform local businesses into national brands.

Samarth is being seen through initiatives like Potli, where Ashim Das blends heritage with innovation. His handcrafted bags made from traditional Baluchari silk and Jamdani weaves have gained attention online, with growing demand expected during Flipkart’s festive sales. The city’s deep-rooted artisanal legacy continues to thrive in the digital age.
