Flipkart, India’s leading e-commerce marketplace, has joined hands with the Assam Project on Forests & Biodiversity Conservation (APFBC) to foster economic empowerment among the state’s artisans, entrepreneurs, and weavers. A workshop, held on January 20 at Aranya Bhawan in Guwahati, was part of the Buyer-Seller Meet 2025, themed “Developing Market Linkages for Products Made by Forest Communities.”
The event introduced participants to Flipkart’s Samarth program, a flagship initiative launched in 2019 to promote underserved communities by providing market access, training, and logistics support. Artisans specializing in bamboo, wooden crafts, and textiles were guided on product listing, leveraging digital tools, and navigating the e-commerce ecosystem. APFBC’s onboarding as a Samarth partner is expected to drive sustainable livelihoods for Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Cluster Level Federations (CLFs).
The collaboration offers immense potential for Siliguri, a vital trading hub in North Bengal. Local artisans and businesses can now utilize Flipkart’s platform to connect with a nationwide customer base, showcasing their unique crafts and boosting economic activity in the region. Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group, stated, “This partnership reflects our commitment to empowering communities with digital inclusivity, creating opportunities for sustainable growth.”
