Flipkart is gearing up for The Big Billion Days (TBBD) 2024 with a significant expansion of its supply chain network and workforce. The e-commerce giant has launched 11 new fulfillment centers across nine cities, increasing the total number to 83 across India. This expansion covers over 1.3 million square feet and is aimed at meeting the surging demand during the festive season.
As part of its commitment to socio-economic development, Flipkart is set to create over 1 lakh new jobs across various supply chain verticals, including roles for inventory managers, warehouse associates, logistics coordinators, and delivery drivers. This initiative is not only expected to enhance Flipkart’s operational efficiency but also empower local communities and contribute to economic growth.
Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President of Supply Chain, Customer Experience, and ReCommerce at Flipkart, stated, “TBBD is a celebration that brings an entire ecosystem together for the festive season. Our expanded Supply Chain network positions us to meet growing customer demands and set new standards for delivery speed and efficiency.” In Siliguri, this expansion is particularly significant. The city, a key logistics hub in Northeast India, stands to benefit from faster and more reliable delivery services, boosting local businesses’ ability to meet festive season demand. The creation of new jobs also promises to enhance the economic landscape in the region.
