Siliguri, June 13: In a recent development, law enforcement from Pradhan Nagar police station caught a group of five miscreants before they could attempt robbery.
The accused criminals have been identified as Animesh Oraon (24), Sambhu Biswas (29) and Gopal Karmakar (22) of Siliguri and Shailendra Pradhan (28) and Abhishek Rasaili (24) of Kurseong.
According to the information, on Wednesday night a group of youth had gathered on the banks of Mahananda river with the intention of committing robbery. Acting on the basis of secret information, Pradhan Nagar police reached there and conducted a raid. During this, five accused were arrested with many sharp weapons.
Subsequently, the weapons were seized and the accused were produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court. At present the police has started investigating the entire matter.
