State Health Society Executive Director Sanjay Kumar Singh confirmed that from Kidwaipuri in Patna a 26-year-old man became the first person in Bihar to test +ve for the new omicron variant of coronavirus. Sanjay Kumar Singh said that he had visited the national capital last week to meet a relative who had tested +ve for Covid-19 a day after returning to Patna. Later, the relative was found infected with omicron and the person from Patna who was in home isolation collected his sample and sent it to a laboratory for testing.
Meanwhile on Thursday, more than 100 people tested +ve for Covid-19 in Bihar and it increasing rapidly. According to the health department, a total of 132 people have tested +ve to push the active caseload to 333.
In the last 24 hours no casualties have been reported in the state, where a total of 12,096 people have lost their lives to the deadly virus. The total number of people affected by this epidemic in March last year is 7, 26,738. So far 7, 14,309 coronavirus patients in Bihar have recovered from this disease. According to the Co-Win Dashboard, in Bihar 9.93 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far.
