Bagdogra, March 25: A fire broke out in Bhuttabari in Bagdogra on Tuesday, burning down two scrap shops and causing huge losses. The incident has created panic in the area.
According to reports, the fire broke out when garbage was being burnt in a grill shop, which later spread to two nearby scrap shops and all the goods inside were burnt to ashes.
Upon receiving information, a fire engine of Bagdogra Air Force and two fire engines from Matigara and Naxalbari reached the spot and brought the fire under control.
Sources estimate that the fire has caused losses worth lakhs of rupees. Meanwhile, Bagdogra police have reached the spot and started investigating the incident.
