Siliguri, Feb 05: In a bizarre incident, an elder brother in Siliguri disappeared after leaving his younger brother at a mobile shop. Police have launched a search.
According to reports, Amit Kumar, a resident of Birpara, came to Siliguri on Tuesday with his younger brother Amrit. They went to a mobile shop located at Circuit House Masjid More to buy mobile phones. They picked two mobile phones worth ₹18,000.
The shopkeeper said that Amit first said he would pay by card, but since the shop did not have a card swipe facility, Amit went to the ATM to withdraw cash.
However, his ATM card got blocked due to entering the wrong PIN. Amit then told the shopkeeper that he would arrange cash from an acquaintance and left his younger brother at the shop.
When Amit did not return even after 8 hours, the shopkeeper informed the Pradhan Nagar police station. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and took the minor boy under their protection. The child was later handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
The younger brother Amrit confirmed that Amit Kumar is his elder brother. The police have now launched a search for Amit to find out the reason behind his disappearance and the circumstances of the incident.
