Early Fertility Evaluation Gaining Importance in North Bengal, Says Birla Fertility & IVF Expert

Doctors across North Bengal are emphasising the importance of early fertility evaluation, as reproductive health concerns are being identified at a younger age, including hormonal disorders, reduced ovarian reserve and male factor infertility.

Dr. Angana De, Consultant and Centre Head, Birla Fertility & IVF, Siliguri, shared: “In Siliguri and the surrounding North Bengal region, we are seeing a high number of young women being diagnosed with PCOS, along with a growing group of patients showing reduced ovarian reserve at an earlier age than expected. At the same time, male factor infertility, including azoospermia and poor sperm quality, is becoming a significant contributor and is often detected only after couples experience prolonged delays in conception.

What is clinically concerning is that many couples seek medical guidance only after several years of trying, by which time key biological parameters have already declined. Fertility outcomes improve significantly when hormonal health, ovarian reserve and sperm quality are assessed proactively rather than after repeated unsuccessful attempts. Timely evaluation and personalised treatment planning can make a measurable difference for patients in this region.”

Clinicians note that simple, early screening can help couples gain clarity sooner and plan their next steps more effectively.
