During secret information in NBMCH, police busted bike theft gang, two thieves and receiver taking into custody

Siliguri, 20th July: The continuous theft of motorcycles around the parking lot of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) in Kharibari has troubled the police. There were growing concerns about security measures at the hospital and the role of the police in preventing such incidents. Eventually, the police adopted a new strategy and worked undercover as civilians to monitor the situation.

The strategy proved effective and on Friday night the police successfully arrested two members of the bike theft gang, identified as Sanju Das (26) from Bhola Mod in NJP and Dheeraj Kumar Ram (42) from Maynaguri. Along with them, Shahid Alam, a receiver involved in purchasing the stolen bike, was also arrested.

As per the details collected, both Sanju and Dheeraj have a record of criminal activities. During police interrogation, Sanju confessed to selling the bike stolen from NBMCH premises to Shahid Alam of Maynaguri on June 6. Based on his statement, the police launched an operation in Maynaguri last night and arrested Shahid Alam and seized the stolen bike.

Further investigation revealed that Dheeraj Kumar Ram would come from Bihar and steal a two-wheeler from the NBMCH area and abscond. Before this, he had recently also committed theft on July 10. On Saturday, the three accused Sanju Das, Dheeraj Kumar Ram and Shahid Alam were produced in Siliguri court for remand. Police have started further inquiries into the criminal operations of the bike theft gang.
