Due to misbehavior and lack of discipline, Sikkim University cancels student admission

Sikkim University has cancelled the provisional admission of a first-semester commerce student, Raj Shekhar Yadav, following allegations of serious misconduct and breach of university discipline. An official order issued on Thursday stated that the complaint was filed jointly by faculty members of the Department of Commerce and the Sikkim University Students Association (SUSA). A disciplinary committee, constituted under Ordinance OC-12, conducted an inquiry and found Yadav guilty of violating the university’s code of conduct.

The report highlighted that Yadav had posted objectionable, indecent, and derogatory remarks in the departmental WhatsApp group between August 14 and 16, 2025. His conduct was deemed disrespectful toward national occasions, including Independence Day celebrations, and showed disregard for the Nepali language and local community values.Based on the disciplinary committee’s recommendations, the Vice-Chancellor, exercising powers under the Sikkim University Act and Ordinance OC-12, ordered the immediate cancellation of Yadav’s admission.

The order has been circulated to the Vice-Chancellor’s office, Registrar, Finance Officer, Controller of Examinations, Librarian, Deans, Heads of Departments, and members of the disciplinary committee. The university stressed that maintaining discipline and respect for institutional values remains a priority and warned students that similar violations would attract strict action.
