Droupadi Murmu to take oath as President on Monday

President-elect Draupadi Murmu will be sworn in to the country’s highest constitutional post on Monday followed by a 21-gun salute.

The Union Home Ministry said the ceremony will be held on Monday at 10.15 am in the Central Hall of the Parliament where the Chief Justice of India NV Ramana will administer the oath of office to the President to her.

Then the President will address.

Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu, Governors, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Heads of Diplomatic Missions, members of the Council of Ministers, Chief Ministers, Members of Parliament and senior civil and military officials will be present on behalf of the government.

At the conclusion of the ceremony in the Central Hall of Parliament, the President will proceed to Rashtrapati Bhavan where he will be given an Inter-Services Guard of Honor and salute to the outgoing President.

On Thursday, Murmu, 64, made history by winning the title of India’s first tribal president.
