As the first former US president to be charged criminally, Donald Trump’s effort to win the presidency again in 2024 has been called into question after he was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury on allegations relating to paying off a porn star during his 2016 campaign.
The Republican Trump, 76, was chosen for indictment on Thursday by the grand jury for his part in paying Stormy Daniels money to keep quiet about an alleged affair.
It is unclear what offences and how many criminal charges Trump has been charged with because the indictment is still under seal. According to CNN, the former president is facing more than 30 counts of criminal charges.
