Doctors’ agitation: Senior doctors of NBMCH resigned en masse in support of junior doctors

Siliguri, October 09: Senior doctors of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) have resigned en masse from their posts in support of junior doctors on hunger strike. This mass resignation comes after a similar action taken by senior doctors of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
According to reports, junior doctors of NBMCH have been on hunger strike since last Sunday and two of them have started an indefinite hunger strike from Monday. Other medical professionals have also joined the symbolic hunger strike to support them.
However, on Wednesday, senior doctors formally announced their mass resignation, saying they would not sign the attendance register but continue to work to provide medical aid to patients. They agreed with the demands of the junior doctors.
The hunger strike by junior doctors has led to disappointment as there has been no response or action from the government despite their protest going on for the past few days.
