DGT and Microsoft collaborate to empower youth with industry-relevant skills

To boost the efforts under the Skill India Mission, the Directorate General of Training (DGT), under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Microsoft, to train students and educators at government-led Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and National SkillTraining Institutions (NSTIs)

. As part of this collaboration, Microsoft will offer a wide range of courses, including training in AI, cloud computing, web development and cybersecurity skills for nearly 6,000 students and 200 faculty members. The CyberShikshaa program will empower young students with industry-relevant skills and connect them to relevant job opportunities. It will also include deep-dive sessions, multifaceted capstone projects, and Train-the-Trainer workshops.

Microsoft collaborates with several non-profit organizations to offer a comprehensive range of courses, and will facilitate the placement of successful learners through collaborations with recruitment and placement agencies and statewide job fairs. Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State (MoS), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship; and Ministry of Electronics and IT, said, “For this purpose, it is crucial that our skilling efforts help build a skilled workforce that is capable of effectively protecting and defending digital systems and networks.”
