DGCA enhances Surveillance of Boeing 737 fleet in India

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s (DGCA) chairman Arun Kumar said that the Indian aviation watchdog has increased the monitoring of the Boeing 737 fleet operated by SpiceJet, Vistara, and Air India Express after the crash of a China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737 with 132 people on board.

Arun Kumar said that, “For us the safety of the Flight is a serious matter so we are closely monitoring the situation. We are also focusing on enhanced surveillance of our 737 fleet.”

In China one of the three major carriers China Eastern Airlines grounded all its Boeing 737 to 800 aircraft after the crash. The 737 fleet was on a flight from Kunming to Guangzhou. Then it crashed in Wuzhou in Tengxian County.

Earlier this Boeing 737 Max aircraft were involved in two accidents. 346 people were killed in that accident. As a result of these two accidents, in March 2019 the DGCA passed the ban on this aircraft in India. Jyotiraditya Scindia and the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi expressed their sorrow over the crash.
