Gangtok, the capital town of Sikkim is witnessing an increasing number of tourists from around the country due to its scenic charm and beauty. The major attraction of the city is a Tibetan Buddhist centre. It attracts monks from Nepal, Ladakh, Himachal and other places. Young hikers from Pan-India are coming to Gangtok to explore this beautiful city.
Gangtok is considered to be the base for hikers and trekkers for going through Sikkim’s Himalayan mountain ranges. A popular and thrilling tourist attraction in the city has been the ropeway, beginning from Deorali Bazar which is adjacent to most happening place of Sikkim ‘Mahatma Gandhi Marg’. The market is bustling with the enthusiastic tourists and their families. The entire ropeway, situated in the heart of the city is being managed by Damodar Ropeways and Infra Limited is easily accessible by locals and tourists. The ropeway was built in 2003, connecting market place to the Tashiling Secretariat via Sikkim Legislative Assembly. The services commence in the morning around 9 am and go up to 5 pm in the evening. The visitors enjoy a panoramic view of the full Gangtok city while taking a ride in this ropeway.
Managing Director of Damodar Ropeways and Infra Limited, Mr. Aditya Chamaria said, this quaint kingdom turned state of Sikkim has always enraptured travelers.
