Siliguri, Feb 17: Matigara police have arrested a dentist for attempting to sexually assault a minor. The accused has been identified as Mohammed Minnat Hussain, who runs a clinic in Bakhtaari area.
According to reports, a minor from Matigara area, who was suffering from toothache, visited the accused’s clinic on Sunday evening. It is alleged that the dentist attempted to rape the minor on the pretext of treatment.
The minor immediately returned home and informed her family about the incident. Following this, the family lodged a written complaint against the doctor at Matigara police station on Sunday night.
On receiving the complaint, Matigara police immediately took action and arrested the dentist. He was produced in Siliguri court on Monday.
The doctor has previously been accused of indecent behaviour with patients and inappropriate behaviour with minors, sources said. Police are investigating the matter thoroughly.
