Delhi Police arrests man in Siliguri for his alleged involvement in fake voter card racket

Siliguri, Nov 25: The Delhi Police has arrested a man for allegedly making fake voter ID cards in Siliguri. The arrested person has been identified as Jayanta Barman.

A man named Khokan Barua from Bangladesh was arrested with fake voter ID cards at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, sources said. During investigation, the Delhi Police traced that the fake voter ID cards came from Siliguri.

After this, a team of Delhi Police went to Siliguri. In a joint operation with the Bhakti Nagar police, they arrested Jayanta Barman from the ISKCON Mandir Road area in connection with the case.

On Monday, Jayanta Barman was produced in the Jalpaiguri District Court. The Delhi Police will take him on a five-day transit remand and take him to Delhi for further investigation. The officials are continuing to investigate the wider network involved in the illegal production of voter ID cards.
