Raju Bista, a Darjeeling MP, highlighted the vital function of the Border Security Force (BSF) in the face of persistent difficulties during his visit to the Indo-Bangladesh Border Outpost (BOP) 132BN in Karzigacch in North Dinajpur’s Chopra Block. Support for the jawans stationed in harsh conditions to guard India’s borders was demonstrated by the visit. In light of Bangladesh’s political turmoil and the regular border clashes, Bista commended the BSF soldiers for their unwavering dedication.
He praised the jawans’ efforts to ensure the safety and security of Indian citizens while acknowledging the environmental and physical struggles they endured. Bista’s, however, also chastised TMC officials and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for supposedly opposing the BSF. He cited claims that certain TMC officials were assisting unlawful infiltrators by facilitating documents such as voter IDs, ration cards, and Aadhaar cards, and denounced what he called the state government’s unjustified criticism of security forces.
Reminding Banerjee that the dedication of the security personnel goes beyond political objectives, Bista questioned the actions taken by the state government to address these accusations. To refute the TMC’s alleged position, he pointed to examples of popular support for the BSF, especially from areas like Sukdebpur in Malda. The MP urged political leaders to put the safety of the nation above electoral objectives and reaffirmed the need of acknowledging and respecting the sacrifices made by the Army, BSF, and SSB in maintaining national security.
