CPSEs to explore innovative ways to drive skill development

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) organized a virtual workshop with Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs). CPSEs were briefed on the latest reforms and initiatives undertaken by the ministry and were encouraged to engage more apprentices.
The workshop was attended by CMDs, HR manager and CSR heads of more than 100 CPSEs who shared their work on apprenticeship training. MSDE stated that all companies should register themselves on the Skill India portal.

CPSEs were encouraged to enhance the number of apprentices engaged by them to max 15% of the total employee strength including contractual staff in the current band of 2.5% to 15%. MSDE recommended that CPSEs should support skilling workplace convergence through DGTs Dual System of Training Scheme/Flexi MoU Scheme, participate in Training of Trainers (ToT) program and also provide support to up-gradation of labs, setting up of labs, development of infrastructure of National Skill Training Institutes/ITIs/Jan Shikshan Sansthan centers and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras under MSDE. Skill India, in partnership with the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, has recently organized a day-long ‘Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela’ across 700+ locations in the country on April 21, 2022. MSDE will continue to organize these Apprenticeship/Rozgar Mela every month and will also conduct 250+ cluster-based workshops across the country to promote the apprenticeship model of skill development.
Hon’ble Minister for Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan said, “We are rolling out the recommendations of the NEP2020. We must create strong integration of education and skilling to create a more vibrant and versatile workforce.”
