CPI(M) stages protest in Naxalbari over five major demands

Naxalbari, October 25: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) CPI(M) staged a sit-in in Naxalbari, advocating five major demands. The sit-in was organised by the Naxalbari Area Committee on the call of the CPI(M) Darjeeling District Committee and was held at the Naxalbari Panighata More.
During the protest, CPI(M) members raised concerns over issues such as atrocities against women across the state, need for stringent punishment for rapists, opposition to the proposed one nation, one election scheme, rising prices of commodities, unemployment problem and widespread corruption in panchayat functions.
Notable personalities present at the programme included Naxalbari Area Committee Secretary Bikash Chakraborty and DYFI leader Raju Sarkar, among others.
