Congress suspends 3 Jharkhand MLAs caught in West Bengal cash haul

The Congress party on Sunday suspended three MLAs after the West Bengal police found a large amount of money in their car on Saturday. The police said that the cash amount was around Rs 48 to 50 lakh but did not give the exact figure now.

Jharkhand Congress time-honored secretary and party in-charge Avinash Pandey said, “The three MLAs, who were arrested yesterday with mountains of cash, have been suspended from the celebrations with spot effect.”


Three MLAs, Irfan Ansari, Rajesh Kachhap and Naman Bixal Kongari were traveling in an SUV on National Highway-16 in Ranihati when the police intercepted their vehicle.

Ansari is the MLA from Jamtara, while Kongari is the MLA from Kolebira in Simdega district and Kachhap is the MLA from Khizri in Ranchi district.
