Bharat Serums and Vaccines Limited (BSV) has partnered with the Public Awareness Committee of the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) to boost awareness and accessibility of colposcopy, a diagnostic method for early cervical cancer detection. The first colposcopy workshop was conducted by renowned and acclaimed faculty Dr. Priya Ganeshkumar at the New Ramakrishna Sevasadan Hospital, Siliguri.
The workshop, which is the first-ever attempt in a Tier 2 city aimed to enhance awareness among several gynaecologists and specialists on the importance of colposcopy in the early detection and accurate diagnosis of cervical cancer. Alok Khettry, COO, India Business, BSV, said, “In line with this vision, we are delighted to partner with FOGSI to educate our Healthcare Practitioners on the availability of such critical diagnostic tools such as Colposcopy, as part of the Continued Professional Development (CPD) under the Uniform Code of Pharmaceutical Marketing Practices (UCPMP).”
Colposcopy is a vital tool in healthcare for early detection of abnormal cervical cells, often before they develop into cancer. It provides accurate diagnosis by allowing biopsies of suspicious areas, ensuring abnormal cells are detected and treated promptly. Colposcopy also aids in preventive care, preventing the progression to invasive cervical cancer and reducing the incidence and mortality rates associated with the disease.
