The 8th edition of the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival in Guwahati began with the Assam-made Hindi movie ‘Kooki’, produced by Dr.Junmoni Devi Khound under the banner of Niri Media OPC Private Limited. The movie tells the story of a non-Assamese girl’s life struggle, love story, and various obstacles, showcasing different elements of Assamese culture. Ritisha Khound, the lead actress, was applauded for her brave and challenging acting skills.
The film stars many established Bollywood actors and Assamese artists, including Ritisha Khound, Rajesh Tailang, Dipannita Sarma, Ritu Shivpuri, Devoleena Bhattacharya, Bodhisatwa Sarma, Kamal Lochan, Bibhuti Bhushan Hazarika, Preeti Kangkana, and Ranjib Lal Borah. The cinematography is done by Gyan Gautam, which has been shot mostly in Tezpur, Guwahati, Meghalaya and the bordering areas of India and Bhutan.
The movie has been edited by Jhulan Krishna Mahanta and editor in chief is Anup Singh. Established artists from both Bollywood and Assamese film industry have worked in Kooki’s music composition.
