A number of Bollywood celebs have condemned the farmers’ tractor rally violence in Delhi on Tuesday. The month-long peaceful protest against the farm laws turned violent when a group of agitating farmers deviated from their specified routes. The enraged farmers forcefully entered the Red Fort and hoisted their flags. This gave rise to a clash between the Delhi cops and the farmers, in which several have been injured. The police resorted to tear gas shelling to diffuse the mob.
Veteran actors like Anupam Kher, Arun Govil, Satish Shah and Manoj Joshi were among those who tweeted their strong thoughts on the turn of events.
One of the most notable images in the scenes that unfolded on Tuesday, had been protestors climbing up a post at Red Fort and planting other flags. Reacting to a video, where a protestor threw the India flag while climbing up, Anupam Kher wrote, ‘Who is this person who is insulting our tricolour on Republic Day”
Satish Shah wrote, that the only thing he wished to say what that he was ‘ashamed of what happened today in Delhi.’
Actress Kangana Ranaut, who has strongly condemned the violence during the protesting farmers’ tractor rally in Delhi, has said that she’s a ‘failure’ because she ‘could not protect the integrity’ of the nation.
Continuing her Twitter tirade against the farmers and Bollywood celebrities – who supported the farmers’ protest, Kangana tweeted, “I did my best to avoid this but I failed…. I may be a spec in the scheme of things but my failure is enormous…. at least it feels like that …. my head hangs in shame. I could not protect the integrity of my nation. I am no one still I am everyone ..and I am a failure today.”
Swara Bhasker tweeted, “It is not right to hoist anything other than the tricolor on the Red Fort. There is no religion. Those who will defend this act, what will they be able to say when someone flaunts another color flag here ?!” Sunny Deol also reacted and expressed his disappointment on the same.
On the other hand, Taapsee Pannu also reacted to the violence during farmer’s tractor rally and wrote, “These 2 news items back to back on my timeline explains so much about the state of affairs in our country.” Vishal Dadlani tweeted, “Does it make sense to you? Farmers who protested peacefully for so many months, even in the face of police violence, suddenly turned violent today? Why? Just doesn’t compute. Plus, we’ve seen those in power do this before. Typical play: Send violent stooges, discredit movement.
Ranvir Shorey said, “I would rather sit comfortably in my AC room then go around rioting and vandalising the capital on Republic Day over laws legislated by an elected govt. And if you don’t want tear gas, stick to the routes the police has designated for protests. Thanks.”
While Celina wrote, ‘JAI JAWAAN! DISAPPOINTED IN OUR KISAANS!! They brought shame to our great nation on our 72nd #RepublicDay Their insinuators ruined our tricolours proud moment to celebrate the glory of the worlds largest democratic constitution & the brave hearts of our nation. #RepublicDay2021’,
