Blood donation camp arranged in Siliguri on World Elephant Day

Siliguri, August 12: Naxalbari branch of Paschim Banga Vigyan Manch organized a blood donation camp in Tukriyajhar range of Kurseong Forest Department on Monday. The event has been held to mark World Elephant Day and address the ongoing blood shortage.
The camp was attended by many notable personalities including ADFO Rahul De Mukherjee, Vigyan Manch’s Gopal De, NAF’s Animesh Basu, former teacher and Vigyan Manch member Paritosh Chakradar and Biplab Roy. Although the initial target was to collect 50 units of blood, 20 units of blood were successfully collected in the camp.
The participants included forest workers and members of Vigyan Manch, all of whom contributed to the cause by donating blood. The collected blood will be sent to the blood bank of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH). Vigyan Manch’s Abhijit Sarkar emphasized that the camp was organized to mark World Elephant Day and to help address the blood shortage in the region.
