Bike-borne miscreants snatch woman’s gold jewellery in Siliguri

Siliguri, Nov 14: A snatching incident took place in Siliguri on Thursday evening, raising serious concerns over the safety of the city. The incident took place near Thakur Nagar on the Eastern Bypass under NJP police station area.

According to reports, local woman Saraswati Mandal was crossing the Eastern Bypass to go to her relative’s house when four assailants came on two motorcycles. The robbers forcefully gagged her mouth so that she could not scream for help.

After that, they looted her gold jewellery, which included earrings, a necklace and a ring. After taking the valuables, the robbers pushed her to the ground and fled the spot on their motorcycles.

Meanwhile, the woman started shouting for help, which caught the attention of the locals and they rushed to her aid. The incident was immediately reported to the NJP police and the officials have started investigating the incident.
