Bengal logged 150 Covid cases in last 2 days

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said the state has reported around 150 new Covid-19 cases in the last two days and most of the infections were mild in nature on Wednesday .

“About 49 patients have been admitted to the hospital. Of them, only nine currently need oxygen support,” Banerjee told reporters at the secretariat.

He referred to the Covid advisory issued by the state’s health department and urged senior citizens and people with sexually transmitted diseases to exercise caution.

Banerjee said Bengal has 30,000 beds for Covid patients, including 4,000 CCU facilities.

According to the advisory, although the current coronavirus strains in the state are known to cause mild symptoms, in some cases, complications can occur, especially in the very elderly and those with “compromised immune systems”.

The Department of Health has also advised people who have not received the precautionary Covid vaccine to jab themselves. PTI SCH RBT RBT
