Kolkata: The West Bengal CID has arrested three men from Gujarat for duping a Siliguri man of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of high returns, an official said on Friday.
A team of the state CID arrested the three men in Surat on Wednesday after the victim Rajesh Jaiswal filed a complaint that he lost Rs 47.5 lakh after investing through an online site for high returns.
“The three accused created a fake website and contacted the complainant through WhatsApp using virtual numbers from different countries. They managed to convince Jaiswal to invest money by falsely promising high returns,” the official said.
