Award-Winning Longitude 77 Expands to Kolkata, Captivating Whisky Connoisseurs

Award-winning Indian single malt Longitude 77, from Pernod Ricard India, marked its entry into the Kolkata market with an exclusive launch event held at ITC Sonar on Thursday. The unveiling forms part of the brand’s planned expansion across high-potential premium whisky markets in India.

Globally recognised for quality, Longitude 77 has won Gold medals at the London Spirits Competition, The Global Spirit Masters by The Spirits Business and Monde Selection, along with a Bronze at The International Wine & Spirits Competition. The single malt is crafted by the master whisky makers behind global names such as Chivas, Glenlivet and Jameson, drawing on more than 200 years of whisky-making expertise.

Renowned whisky expert Jim Murray praised the expression for its “clarity, balance and complexity,” noting that it stands alongside some of the finest Scotch blends and single malts, while highlighting the impact of its maturation in the Nashik foothills. Master Blender Mahesh Patil said the whisky reflects India’s unique terroir, with double maturation in American bourbon barrels and wine casks, followed by ageing in Dindori, Nashik. The launch event featured contemporary interpretations of Kolkata’s flavours and concluded with a guided tasting session.
