In the 25K Tata Steel Kolkata Marathon, Phurba Tamang, also referred to as the Marathon Girl of Sikkim, has once again made her state proud by taking home the silver medal in the 25-29 age group. Phurba finished the difficult race in a remarkable time of 1 hour, 52 minutes, and 27 seconds, placing her in second position behind West Bengali competitor Puja Mondol, who took first place.
Meghalaya’s Bandasharai Marwein, who came in third, was surpassed by Phurba. Phurba is currently employed at the Government of Sikkim’s Department of Sports & Youth Affairs. Her outstanding accomplishment is a result of her hard work and devotion. Basant Pradhan has been her coach, and his advice has been very helpful in helping her improve.
