Assam to introduce “Affordable” Universal Health Insurance

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma on Thursday said that the state government is launching a universal health insurance scheme for the residents of the state.

He emphasized the implication of affordable healthcare for all, especially the need for emergency services to reach every part and corner of Assam.

Flagging off 83 new ambulances for 108 Mruthunjay schemes, Shri Sarma tweeted: “We plan to bring universal health insurance through Ayushman Assam to those excluded from Ayushman Bharat. Senior citizens and journalists will be covered under this scheme; People without NFSS ration cards, etc.”

He said the ambulances would benefit patients in rural and urban areas of Assam and help reduce maternal and child mortality in the state.
