The Assam government is soon to introduce a law to check human trafficking, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told the state assembly.
According to the new law, those who employ themselves to prevent human trafficking will have to register the details of their domestic workers with the nearest police station and also undertake to provide them with education and health facilities.
He said the government will formulate a policy for proper rehabilitation of trafficked children and take strict measures to prevent human trafficking.
On the basis of National Crime Records Bureau data for 2021, Assam reported 203 cases of human trafficking last year.
