Assam Govt. asks schools to display photographs of teachers in classrooms

The government of Assam has asked to all high schools, higher secondary schools, and senior secondary schools to display photographs of all teachers in classrooms.

This directive was issued by the Director of Secondary Education Mamata Hojai.

The August 17 order directed all school inspectors to issue a directive to the heads of all institutions under their jurisdiction to display photographs of all teachers in sturdy, good-quality frames in government-mandated classrooms.

According to Hozai, the main reason behind this decission is to bring more transparency between teachers and parents. In case, parents want to meet the teachers and discuss about their child. They cannot do that unless they know about the teachers properly.

This is one of the many steps taken by the Himanta Biswa Sharma-led Assam government in the state’s education sector.
