Siliguri, A fresh incident of theft in Siliguri has raised concerns as thieves targeted a jewellery shop in Tumbal Para under Ward No. 04.
The theft took place around 3 am on Friday night when miscreants broke into the shop by cutting the tin roof and ceiling. Gold jewellery worth over Rs 1 lakh was stolen.
The theft came to light on Saturday morning when the shop owner rushed there and found the roof damaged. Police from Khalpara outpost swung into action as soon as they were informed.
CCTV footage from inside the shop shows a masked man entering through the roof and stuffing jewellery into a bag.
Amid a series of such incidents in Siliguri in recent weeks, residents have expressed growing concern and urged authorities to increase police surveillance in sensitive areas.
