A Kashmiri Pandit who was shot by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday succumbed to his injuries in a hospital, officials said.
The area has been cordoned off and operations have been launched to nab the culprits, they added.
Puran Krishan Bhat was attacked near his residence in Chowdhury Gund area of south Kashmir district, they said, adding that doctors declared Mr Bhat brought dead after he was shifted to Shopian Hospital.
Mr. Bhat has two school-going children – a girl who studies in class 7 and a younger boy who studies in class 5 – a relative said. He added, “He didn’t even come out of his house, stayed inside. We are very scared,”.
“The area has been cordoned off for the search. Senior police and paramilitary officials have reached the spot,” police said.
On August 16 this year, terrorists killed another Kashmiri Pandit, Sunil Kumar Bhat of Chotigam village in the same district, and another Kashmiri Pandit, Partimbar Nath Bhat, was injured in the attack.
