Amazon India has launched Aurora, a program aimed at enhancing inclusive hiring and incorporating people with learning disabilities into its workforce. The initiative is designed to provide meaningful employment to individuals with learning disabilities, following a successful pilot with Sol’s ARC, a non-profit organization in Mumbai. Amazon India currently employs over 35 associates at its fulfillment center, sortation center, and delivery station areas.
The program also aims to build groundwork and support mechanisms, such as increasing employee awareness and encouraging allies to those with learning disabilities. Existing employees will receive increased training sessions to gain sensitivity toward this cohort.Amazon India will also learn and adapt global practices to meet the needs of its employees in India. Listening sessions will be conducted to understand associates’ feedback and ensure appropriate interventions are made to drive positive experiences. Amazon India’s Director – HR Operations, Liju Thomas, emphasized the company’s commitment to a diverse workforce, stating that it aims to create a more inclusive environment and provide opportunities for underrepresented groups, reflecting the company’s diverse customer base.
