Amazon India launches a program to help bring offline retailers kiranas and local shops online

Amazon India has announced that over 2 lakh sellers including over 1500 from North East India have joined Local Shops on Amazon program since its launch in 2020. Amazon India launched the program to help bring offline retailers, kiranas and local shops online.

Notably, the number of sellers on the program has more than doubled YOY.This festive season customers will be able to shop from some of their favourite local stores in their cities, get deliveries the same/next day and also benefit from value added services offered by these sellers.

To help new sellers kick start their journey, the company recently also announced that new sellers registering on Amazon.in between August 28 to October 26th and launching within 90 days from date of registration shall be eligible to avail 50% waiver on selling fee* across all categories. . Over 9000 sellersfrom the North East region, amongst all others from India, are looking forward to benefit from this festive season. Amazon has launched emporiums like Purbashree and Panthoibi under the Karigar program. Within six months of its launch on Amazon, Panthoibi emporium’s monthly sales has grown 2x. So far, Amazon hasempowered over 3.5 lakh artisans and weavers from the region through these initiatives. Kshitij Jain, Director, Director External Fulfilment, Amazon India, said,“ Further, over 9000 sellers from North East India will have the opportunity to showcase their products to millions of customers across the country during Amazon’s Great Indian Festival, which will begin from 23 September 2022. We hope that this festive season will bring growth and success to all our sellers and be our biggest “sellerbration” till date.”
