For the year 2022-23, a 1.42 lakh-crore budget presented by the Finance minister of India Nirmala Sitharaman in the Lok Sabha for Jammu and Kashmir. After tabling the budget, FM Nirmala Sitharaman said that because of the abolition of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir it has granted special status to the erstwhile state. It has led to the application of 890 Central laws to the state.
She also said that, “For over 70 years everything that denied to the people of J&K will be given to them. Which Dr B.R.Ambedkar gave for the rest of the country will be given to the people of J&K. SC/ST laws are now available for the people of J&K.”
In J&K, 1,198 startups have been registered and more than 200 startups funded till now. Under Emergency Credit Guarantee Scheme, 143 crore was given to the MSME units in J&K during the pandemic of COVID-19.
For the year 2021-22, Nirmala Sitharaman also presented the supplementary demands for the Union Territory totalling 18,860.32 crore.
