Actress Ananya Panday, who was ultimate considered in Gehraiyaan, is busy promoting her upcoming movie Liger. The sports-action drama also facets Telugu actor Vijay Deverakonda and marks his Hindi film debut. In a current interview, Ananya spoke about the ‘cancel culture’ prevailing in Bollywood. The actor said she has learnt not to take positive matters critically as every day any one or the different is getting ‘boycotted’. Ananya said she even requested any person if she was once herself boycotted as ‘everyone is being cancelled’.
Recently, Lal Singh Chadha, which is slated to hit theaters on August 11, made headlines after a section of social media consumers called for a ‘boycott’ of the film. The film stars Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, who both addressed the fashion boycott surrounding their films. Ahead of the launch of her Netflix film Darlings, actor Alia Bhatt also faced the wrath of some social media users, with ‘Boycott Alia Bhatt’ trending on Twitter.
Now, Ananya addresses the current trend of boycotting films and celebrities. “I guess it’s like a cycle. Every day someone is being boycotted or canceled one by one. We’re dropping our tracks. I have even requested any person that I am fine whether I am boycotted or not. I can become aware of new things every day. This is what I understand. You have to learn how to filter things. You need to understand what matters to take it seriously. I don’t take them seriously,” Ananya instructed India Today.
Ananya’s first pan-Indian film Ligar is directed by Puri Jagannadh and will hit the theaters on August 25 in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. It marks Ananya and Vijay Deverkonda’s first movie together. League is jointly produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Puri Connects. American boxer Mike Tyson also has a cameo in the film, which also stars Ramya Krishnan in an important role.
Ananya will next be seen in Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, which also stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and Adarsh Gaurav.
