Invoking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement to Russian President Vladimir Putin that “today’s era is not of war” from September of last year, Ukraine’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Emine Dzhaparova said on Monday that India is a global leader and can aid in addressing major global challenges and promoting peace. Dzhaparova said she updated the Indian side on Ukraine’s efforts to combat Russia’s “unprovoked aggression” after briefing Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs Sanjay Verma on the situation on the ground in Ukraine. She also invited New Delhi to join President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s peace formula and the grain initiative. India’s support, according to Dzhaparova, is crucial.
