Bagdogra, September 20: A smuggler was detained while trying to smuggle deer horns on Panighata Road in Bagdogra. The arrested person has been identified as Subran Baraik, a resident of Oodlabari.
According to the report, the jawans of the 8th Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) took this action based on a secret information. Following this, the suspect was apprehended and two deer horns were recovered from him. The seized horns were later handed over to the Bagdogra Forest Department.
The accused will be produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Saturday. The Forest Department has launched an investigation to identify other possible suspects involved in the case.
