A man from Chhapra detained in Siliguri on charges of domestic violence

Siliguri, Sep 21: Bhakti Nagar police have arrested a man who was evading law enforcement on charges of domestic violence. The accused has been identified as Mohammed Chand Hussain, a resident of Ashraf Nagar in Bhakti Nagar area.
According to reports, Hussain married a local woman from Ashraf Nagar about a year ago. However, there have been frequent disputes between the two since their marriage. Apart from this, Hussain and his in-laws allegedly tortured the woman physically and mentally.
Concerned about his daughter’s safety, the woman’s father filed a formal complaint at the Bhakti Nagar police station about two-and-a-half months ago, accusing Hussain and his family of domestic violence and attempted murder. Following the complaint, the accused husband went into hiding, following which the police began searching for him.
On Friday, the police arrested Hussain from Chhapra on the basis of a tip-off and brought him back to Siliguri. He was produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Saturday. The police is currently investigating the entire case.
