Rajganj, June 29: A herd of wild elephants destroyed betel nut and banana plantations in Lalitabari area of ​​Mantadari Gram Panchayat, leaving the affected farmers in trouble.

The incident occurred late on Friday night when elephants roamed the area and damaged the gardens of farmer Manoranjan Roy. About 100 betel and banana trees were destroyed, causing significant financial loss to Roy, who depends on these crops for his family’s livelihood. This follows a previous incident where his paddy crop was also damaged, for which he claimed not to have received compensation.
Local people in the area adjacent to the forest expressed ongoing conflict with wild animals and constant fear of such attacks. He has called for increased patrolling by forest personnel to ensure their safety and protect their crops.
