The upcoming 9th edition of the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival (BVFF), taking place from December 5th to 8th, 2024, at Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio in Kahilipara, Guwahati, promises to be a vibrant celebration of storytelling. With over 220 film entries highlighting powerful narratives from the Northeast and beyond, the festival aims to inspire both audiences and filmmakers alike.
BVFF is not just about films; it’s about fostering a community. This year, the festival will showcase a diverse array of categories, including feature films, documentaries, and short films. Over the years, it has attracted over 25,000 attendees and trained more than 800 young filmmakers, making it a pivotal platform for emerging talent.
In Siliguri, the festival is expected to enhance economic activity as visitors travel to Guwahati. Local businesses, particularly in hospitality and retail, are likely to see a boost from the increased foot traffic, creating opportunities for engagement and collaboration. Director Tanushree Hazarika reflects the spirit of the festival, saying, “Every story shared brings us closer as a community.” This edition of BVFF will not only spotlight cinematic excellence but also strengthen the bonds between people through the power of film.
