17 booked for allegedly ragging a student at Medical College Hostel

A 24 year old student of a G S Medical College of mumbai was allegedly ragged and against 17 of them were registered a file, KEM Hospital approached the police.

According to the complaint, his hostel roommates and other students would verbally abuse, pitch casteist slurs and threaten him. In last three years in various occasions he was harassed and many incidents occurred in the presence of the hostel waden, who didn’t take any action against it.

The victim and some activists have lodged a complaint with the Dean’s office, following, a meeting of anti-ragging committee was held in the hostel. The victim then approached the Bhoiwada police station in central Mumbai and filed his complaint against the accused students, wardens and others.

An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Maharashtra Anti-Ragging Act and IPC.
