100th Tansen Sangeet Samaroh sets Guinness World Record

The 100th TansenSangeetSamaroh created history by securing a Guinness World Record for the Largest Hindustani Classical Band, featuring an ensemble of 546 musicians performing at the iconic Gwalior Fort.

The musicians delivered a captivating performance of Tansen’s legendary ragas—Rag Malhar, Rag Mia kiTodi, and Rag Darbari—underscoring the enduring charm of Hindustani classical music. Organized by the Madhya Pradesh Cultural Department, the event coincided with Gwalior’s recognition as a UNESCO City of Music, reaffirming its global significance.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav presided over the event, which drew dignitaries, music enthusiasts, and international guests. Guinness World Record consultant NischalBarot, overseeing his 53rd successful record, remarked, “This achievement showcases the timeless spirit of Indian classical music and flawless teamwork, putting Gwalior on the world map as a hub for cultural excellence.” Siliguri also felt the ripple effects of this cultural milestone, with an uptick in demand for Indian classical music instruments like sitars and tablas. Local vendors noted growing interest among youth in pursuing classical music, reflecting the event’s broad cultural impact.
