The flood situation in Bihar continues to remain grim with over 10 lakh people affected by the deluge across the state, while the official death toll has climbed to 18. Among the worst affected districts in Bihar are West and East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Kishanganj, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, and Khagaria, all of which have reported flood-related deaths. As many as 21 relief camps have been set up across Bihar and 271 community kitchens are operating. Of the latter, 186 are in Darbhanga. With seven fatalities, the most deaths have occurred in West Champaran along the border with Nepal through which flows the Gandak river, severely hit by floods. Darbhanga is the worst-affected district in Bihar, where the floodwater has inundated roads and submerged entire villages.
