1 dead, over 20 hurt in grenade attack in Kashmir market

A 70-year-old man person died and 24 humans had been injured in a grenade attack by means of suspected terrorists in a busy market place of Srinagar on Sunday. A policeman is amongst the injured. A girl, who sustained injuries in the attack, is critical, human beings acquainted with the count number said.

Senior superintendent of police, Srinagar, Rakesh Balawal, said the grenade was thrown in the crowded avenue market close to Amira Kadal on Sunday.

“In this terror act, one historical man from Nowhatta (in the ancient city) has succumbed to accidents while one girl is critical. In this attack, 24 other persons including 23 civilians and a cop have acquired splinter injuries and are out of danger,” the Srinagar Police said in a tweet.

Balawal stated the Nowhatta man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Deputy inspector frequent of Police, central Kashmir, Sujit Kumar stated the police will track down the culprits soon.

“We are checking CCTV footage, (inputs from nearby) command cars and different witnesses to trace them (the attackers),” he said, acknowledging that the crowded areas were being constantly focused by way of terrorists.

“Certainly, this is turning into a trend. We have obtained indispensable clues and we will trace them soon,” he said.

“Security personnel had been deployed here and there was no lapse as our policeman used to be also injured in the attack,” he said.
